言わずと知れたポール・マッカートニー＆ウィングスの代表曲。1973年に発売したアルバム『Band On The Run』からのファースト・シングルとして、アルバム発売後の1974年1月に発売され、1974年2月に全米・全英ともに７位まで記録している。アメリカのキャッシュボックス誌では最高５位まで上昇した。
当初ポールはアルバム『Banc On The Run』からシングルカットをしない予定であったが、アルバム発売の1973年12月当初はアルバムのセールスが芳しくなかったことから、この曲をファースト・シングルとしてアルバムのプロモーションに力を入れたようだ。
「『Band On The Run』を作った時、アルバムが純粋なものに仕上がったので、シングルを出さないつもりだった。みんなアルバムから売れ筋の曲をシングルカットしているけど、僕らはＬＰだけを出したかったんだ。けど、アルバムを出した当初はあまり売れなくてね。数人から良いアルバムって言われてて、チャートの７位まで上昇したんだけど、下降し始めた。その時に’しまった！ いいアルバムなのに！’って思ったね。みんなアルバムを聴いたことがないっていうのが紛れもない事実だったんだ。」（ポール）
この曲は、ポールが夏にスコットランドで過ごしている時に書かれた。アルバム『Band On The Run』のレコーディング地、ナイジェリアのラゴスからロンドンに帰ってきた後に、ロンドンのAIR Studiosでレコーディングされた。
曲を作っている時にポールの飼っていた「Jet」というラブラドール犬がポールのまわりを入り回っていたことから、この犬の名前を曲のタイトルにしたようだ。
「僕らはラブラドール犬を飼っていた。その子犬は野犬で室内にいるような犬ではなかったんだけど、ある日妊娠して帰ってきた。子犬数匹を抱えてガレージの中を歩き回るんだ。'Jet'はその子犬の中の一匹なんだ。子犬全部に名前を付けたけど、その中には’ゴールデン・マラシーズ’なんていう名前の犬もいたりしてね。こっちの方がよかったかな。」（ポール）
「曲を書くとき、それが何かを意味する時もあるし、レコードを買ってくれる人にとって何かを意味するときもある。でも、何を意味するかと尋ねられた時に答えられないことがあるんだ。'Suffragette'がそうだ。なんか馬鹿げたように聞こえる。そういうのが好きなんだ。」（ポール）
この曲がシングルとして発売される前、アメリカのラジオ局からの反応よかったため、レコード会社のキャピトルはエディット・バージョンを制作するようにポールに依頼したが、当初ポールはＯＫを出さず、ラジオ局独自でエディット・バージョンを制作し放送していたが、遂にポールもキャピトルレコードに対して許可を出し、2分49秒のエディット・バージョンが制作され、各ラジオ局に配布されたところ、ラジオ局のヒットチャートで次々と１位を記録することとなった。シングルでは、通常の４分のバージョンのみ発売された。
この曲はポールのライブの定番曲であり、常にオープニングか２，３曲目くらいに演奏され、会場を盛り上げる役割を果たしている。1975-76年のウィングスのワールド・ツアー、1989-90年のゲットバック・ツアー、1993年のヨーロッパ・日本・南米ツアー、2002-3年のワールド・ツアー、2004年のヨーロッパ・ツアー、2005年のアメリカ・ツアーで演奏された。
なお、アルバム『Band On The Run 25th Anniversary Edition』には、1993年9月3日ベルリン公演のサウンドチェックでの演奏が収録されている。

Another Day

ポール・マッカートニーにとって、ビートルズ解散後のソロキャリアでのファースト・シングルとなった曲。B面は「Oh Woman, Oh Why?」。アメリカ・ビルボードで５位、イギリスで２位まで上昇し、ソロ時代初めてのヒットとなった曲で、ポールの代表曲の１つ。３種類のベスト・アルバムそれぞれに収録されている。
曲自体はビートルズ時代に作ったものであり、1969年のビートルズの「ゲット・バック・セッション」でも、ポールがピアノの弾き語りで演奏した曲であり、1969年1月9日と25日のセッションで聴くことができる。
レコーディングはアルバム『RAM』の制作時に行われたため、演奏に参加したミュージシャンはアルバム『RAM』と同じである。この時のレコーディングに参加したドラマー、デニー・シーウェルが後のウィングスの初代ドラマーとなる。
最初に発売されたシングルでは、作曲者としてリンダ・マッカートニーもクレジットされていたが、リンダが作曲した事実がないとして、当時の版権会社ノーザン・ソングスの社長、サー・ルー・グレードが、リンダの作曲者クレジットからの削除を求めて訴訟を起こした。結局、ポールはベスト・アルバムでのクレジットを単体とする。
「リンダが作曲者として認識されるかどうかは、重要じゃないって思ってた。僕が誰と一緒に作業しようとも、そのコラボレーションがどんな形であろうと、僕が作曲するのを手伝ってくれた人は、その権利の一部を所有してもいいと思う。」（ポール）
リンダは、この訴訟に触発され、自ら「Seaside Woman」を書いたと言われている。
ポールの代表曲の１つであるにも関わらず、この曲がライブで演奏されたのは、1993年のツアーのみである。
