ウィングスのファースト・アルバム『Wings Wild Life』に収録されているポールとリンダのセンチメンタルな共作曲。
ポールとリンダのデュエット・ボーカルが堪能できる。ポールがソロになって初めて、ポール以外の人物とデュエットした曲であり、ポールがウィングスをポールのワンマン・バンドではなく、ビートルズと同じように各メンバーも前面に出そうとしていた意気込みが伝わる。間奏のリコーダーはポールによる演奏。
アルバム『Wings Wild Life』からの第３弾シングル「Tomorrow」のＢ面に収録される予定であったが、シングルの発売には至らなかった。
1972年のヨーロッパ・ツアーでレパートリーに取り入れた。1972年8月22日のアントワープ公演の演奏（ライン録音）が以下のブートで聴くことができる。また、公式DVD『Wingspan』で、1971年6月にスコットランドの農場でこの曲を弾き語る姿を見ることができる。

1972年1月30日に北アイルランドのロンドンデリーで発生した通称「血の日曜日（Bloody Sunday）」というイギリス軍によるアイルランドのカトリック系市民虐殺事件に対するプロテスト・ソングとして、ポールが作ったプロテスト・ソング。
「僕の住んでいる国の政府がアイルランド人を殺すことになってしまった。本当に最悪なニュースだ。このニュースを聞いて、僕は何か言わなければと思った。実際にやってよかったと思う。ただ座っているだけで、何もしないこともできたけど、僕の故郷から近くの出来事だったし、特別な日に何か言わないといけないと思ったんだ。」（ポール）
この曲は、ポールが１日で書き、１日で録音したと言われているが、2月9日から始まるイギリス大学ツアーに備えたロンドンのICAギャラリーで行われたリハーサル（1979年に放送・公開された番組『Wings Over The World』）で初めて公になったが、この曲は放送されたことがない）が2月1日から始まっていることを考えると、１日で書かれたのは間違いないであろう。
2月のイギリス大学ツアーで初披露された後に、ウィングスのデビューシングルとして、2月25日にイギリスで発売されたが、政治的色が強い影響で、イギリス国営放送BBCで放送禁止扱いとなった。そのため、プロモーション・ビデオは制作されていない。
「僕らがライブで一番面白かったのは、”この曲は放送禁止になった曲です”と紹介すると、観客が盛り上がったことだ。みんなこういうのが好きだったし、規制や検閲に反対したがるんだね。」（ポール）
この「血の日曜日」事件に関しては、ジョン・レノンも同様にアルバム『Sometime In New York City』で「Sunday Bloody Sunday」「The Luck Of The Irish」の２曲を作曲し、1972年9月15日に発表した。
「僕は、いつも政治的な歌ばかり作るのはジョンの役割だと思っていた。政治的なことに関しては、何も言わないのがクールだと思っていた。僕が政治的なことをやるのは、どうやってもウケが悪いだろうし、誰も興味ないだろうし。でも、この曲を作ってみた。そうしたら、アイルランドではこの曲が１位になったし、おもしろいことに、スペインでも１位になったんだ。」（ポール）
2001年に発売されたポールのベストアルバム『Wingspan』に当初収録予定であったが、レコード会社のEMIからの要請で、曲目リストから外れた。
「IRA（Provisional Irish Republican Army、アイルランド共和国軍暫定派）のやり方には支持できないんだ。ロンドンの街中で爆弾を爆破させて、一般人を殺すような軍団を。とても支持できないね。だから、EMIが電話してきた時には、”僕ら、とっても神経質になっているし、アルバムにかける時間もない。この曲は外そう。”って言ったんだ。これがこの曲が外れた理由。」（ポール）
この曲は、1993年にアルバム『Wings Wild Life』が再発された時にボーナストラックとして追加され、初めてＣＤ化された。
また、シングルＢ面には別録音のインストゥルメンタル・バージョンが収録されているが、これはＣＤ化されていない。
インストゥルメンタル・バージョンの曲名が「Give Ireland Back To The Irish (version)」となっているのは、ジャマイカのアーティストによるレゲエのシングルのＢ面に、Ａ曲のインストゥルメンタル・バージョンが「version」と表記されていることが多いのに影響されている。

アルバム『Wings Wild Life』に収録されているもの悲しげなピアノ・バラード。歌詞の内容はジョン・レノンの曲「How Do You Sleep?」に宛てたものだ。ジョンレノンの死後、ポールは以下のように語っている。
「"Dear Friend"はジョンについて書いた曲だ。僕は悲しみや争いが好きではないんだ。そのことで悦に入っていた。人生って貴重だけど、争いごとをしていて、罪だったと時々気付くんだ。ジョンが公然と僕を酷評したので、何か反応しないといけないと考えたんだ。それも公然とジョンを酷評することになってしまうこと。でも、本能がそれを許そうとしなかった。嬉しいことだけど。だから、別のアプローチで行こうと思ったんだ。それで僕は、銃を下ろして、ボクシングのグローブを外してっていう内容のこの曲を書いたんだ。」
ドラムのデニー・シーウェルは、この曲が1971年4月ロスでのアルバム『Ram』のセッションでレコ－ディングされたと語っている。当初は、ジョージ・ハリスンの曲「Isn't It A Pity」に対するアンサーソングでもあったという。レコーディングは１テイクで終了したという。オーケストラのアレンジはリチャード・ヒューソンが行った。。彼はビートルズの「The Long And Winding Road」、「Across The Universe」「I Me Mine」、ポールのソロでは「My Love」のオーケストラ・アレンジを担当した人物である。

アルバム『Wings Wild Life』の「I Am Your Singer」「Tomorrow」をつなぐリンクの曲として登場。ポールのアコースティック１本によるインスト・ナンバー。おそらくアルバムのレコーディング中にアドリブで演奏されたものをそのまま収録したと思われる。「Bip Bop」のメロディーを基調としているが、どことなく、アルバム『Flaming Pie』に収録されている「Great Day」に似ている。
元々曲名がクレジットされていなかったが、CD化に際して初めて曲名が付けられた。

ポールのしわがれた声によるボーカルが聴ける一風変わった作品。曲のタイトルは、ポールの娘メアリーが口にしていた言葉だという。
「これは、僕らの赤ちゃんが好きなんだ。僕らは"ずんぐりむっくり"とした曲を演奏するのに興味がある。何の意味もない歌詞の曲をね。」（ポール）
1971年6月にスコットランド、キャンベルタウンの牧場で、リンダや娘のメアリーと一緒にこの曲をアコースティックで弾き語るテープが、2001年に発売されたベスト・アルバム『Wingspan』に収録されている。その時の映像は、1979年に公開されたウィングスの1975-6年にかけてのワールド・ツアーのドキュメンタリー『Wings Over The World』や、1993年のニュー・ワールド・ツアーのプレ・フィルム（公式ビデオ『Paul Is Live』に収録）で見ることができる。
